Putin-Poroshenko axis not likely to succeed – Washington unlikely to forsake strategy
It is certainly a good sign as well as a good idea, that both eastern European neighbors come together and settle affairs. But the US keep their firm strategic commitment against Russia’s growing strength as a number one global player in exports of energy resources. Whereas making the Europeans pay Ukraine’s debt may be in line with the US aim of weakening the Europeans – but certainly the winner is not only Ukraine and the US – but Russia as well. And that latter point is certainly no deal, which the US might deem acceptable or even tolerable.
